The slow pace with the terrible dialogue did me in. The lack of respecting boundaries didn’t do it for me. For example: There is a scene where Brielle is naked, bathing alone in a river and he shows up and keeps coming closer to her even though she repeatedly tells him to go away. It’s another Romantasy where everything bad happens to the lonely main female character and the main male previously womanizing character with his charisma comes in to save the day. I kept trying to pick it back up then Harper would be so insufferable (is she even necessary to the story?) that I would put it back down for a few weeks. I have finally learned my lesson and won’t be picking it back up again. Would not recommend, especially not for readers who have ever been bullied.
